Cancelled horse trials at Blenheim
Due to heavy rain the Blenheim Horse Trials 2008 have been cancelled.
The dressage stage took place on Friday however the ground has been deemed unfit to cope with the planned cross-country and jumping phases on the Saturday and Sunday.
This is the first time the horse trials have ever been cancelled due to weather conditions and organisers have said that all that have purchased weekend tickets will receive a refund.
The event director has said that she is very disappointed due to the amount of work that has gone in to the organisation of the event to then have to cancel it. However she continued to say that the safety of the horses and riders are of up most importance
The Duke of Marlborough who is hosting the event at Blenheim added, “ Its so frustrating, because we were set for a great weekend with a terrific cross-country course”.
