Equine insurance: Animal collision causes delays on A38
Road users in Somerset have faced delays this morning, following a collision between a car and a horse, equine insurance policyholders have been told.
ThisIsTheWestCountry.co.uk reported that the A38 between Taunton and North Petherton was blocked after the incident, which happened during morning rush hour traffic.
The incident occurred near the junction of the A361 towards Durston shortly before 09:00 GMT this morning and was attended by the emergency services.
A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance from South West Ambulance service was sent to the scene. The driver, an unnamed woman in her 40s, was found to be shaken but uninjured.
The horse suffered serious injuries in the collision and was left lying in the middle of the road. It is not known whether the animal survived the accident.
Earlier this month, police in Bristol appealed for witnesses to a collision which resulted in a horse dying after its trailer rolled into a ditch.
