Equine insurance: Teenager dies after kick from pet horse

A West Lothian girl has died after suffering massive head injuries from a kick by her pet horse, those looking for equine insurance have been told.

Sixteen-year-old Lauren Bryant received the fatal blow from Solo as she was getting ready to take the animal out for a ride at Duddingston Farm stables, West Lothian.

Paramedics attended the scene of the accident, however, Ms Bryant was pronounced dead while on her way to a Dunfermline hospital.

"We're absolutely devastated, Lauren was a beautiful daughter. This has been a tragic accident and has come as a massive shock. Lauren lived for horses and had her heart set on working with them after she left school," said mum Andrea.

Dad Stewart added that his daughter was wanting to go on and work in the equestrian sector as she "really loved horses".

The need for equine insurance was recently highlighted when a 12-year-old girl fell from her mount, according to the Bromsgrove Advertiser.
