Hampton Sponsored Ride 2008
The Hampton Sponsored Ride is being held on September 21st 2008 at Elstead in Surrey. The ride is approximately 8 miles and takes place over private woodland, farmland and commons. There are 40 jumps ranging from 1 foot 6 inches / 2 foot 6 inches to some of 3 foot / 3 foot 6 inches designed for the bolder horse and rider. All jumps are optional.
The Hampton Sponsored Ride is raising money for several charities including Help for Heroes and Ash Friends of ChildLine.
Help for Heroes aims to do something practical for the men and women of the Armed Forces who are wounded while serving in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Chief of the General Staff was asked for a task and suggested raising money to provide a much needed swimming pool and gym complex at Headley Court, near Tadworth.
Early in 2006 ChildLine was incorporated with the NSPCC to help secure its future and to enable it to answer many more calls from children in danger or distress. Despite this merger, local groups, such as the Ash Friends of ChildLine, are still actively raising much needed funds for ChildLine.
