Horse charity receives police donation
A horse charity based in Buckinghamshire has received £400 from Thames Valley Police after auctioning unclaimed goods seized from a crime.
The Horse Trust is a sanctuary that takes in horses and offers them shelter until a new owner is found or until it dies. The charity currently houses 100 animals, which include retired or injured horses from the Thames Valley Police. The Horse Trust received the money from the police, as all funds made from seized goods must be given to charity by law.
Sergeant John Thruston of the Thames Valley Police said: "It is very comforting indeed to know there is such a wonderful place for our retired police horses to spend the rest of their days. The Horse Trust is a marvellous charity, with people who dedicate their lives to looking after the retirement needs of horses, donkeys and ponies."
Sanctuaries such as The Horse Trust rely solely on donations and support from third parties, charities are expensive to run and have a high liability risk as well as needing horse insurance.
Insure My Horse provides you with top quality horse insurance covering you and your beloved pets.
