Horse dies after valiant Grand National win

A champion horse has died after winning its third race at the Toals Ulster Grand National on Wednesday. Chief Oscar collapsed just passed the finish line during the race, which vets have put down to a ruptured artery causing a heart attack.

The trainer Brian Hamilton is overjoyed with the 9-year-olds performance as he was a 16-1 horse and after some great jumping took home the £16,000 prize.

Mr Hamilton said: "He's just such an honest horse and he gave his all. He has won three times around here, it's just such a horrible thing to happen."
