Horse disease breakout
Vets are warning horse owners across the UK after a break out of a eye disease has affected several horses in the Highlands. The eye infection is a serious and painful condition and vets from Kessock Equine Vets warn that it can cause permanent injury.
The infection known as herpes keratitis is very rare and is usually only diagnosed in a horse once in a year. Vets are now worried as they have diagnosed several cases in the past month and urge horse owner to be cautious. The disease spreads through close contact between horses, symptoms will usually appear immediately, presenting with weeping eyes, if this persists contact your vet.
Insure My Horse offers tailor made policies to suit both you and your horse insurance needs.
