Horse insurance: Sanctuary owner appeals for land

Horse insurance policyholders have been told that the owner of Chester-based Clip Clop sanctuary is appealing for new land to enable her to expand her services.

Ellesmere Port Pioneer reported that Val Kear, who owns the organisation that is currently located in Wimbolds Trafford, is searching for premises closer to Ellesmere Port and a main bus service, in order to make the sanctuary more accessible.

Working with the RSPCA and British Horse Society, Ms Kear has ten ponies, which are used to teach children with special needs, as well as youngsters with a history of offending.

Talking about her work, Ms Kear said: "To see the way the children grow in confidence and self-worth in such a positive environment is amazing."

She explained that the current location means that some youngsters struggle to reach the centre.

Last month, Horse and Hound reported that a new equestrian facility is due to open in Somerset next year, providing much-needed cross-country facilities to the region.
