Horse insurance customers grateful for donations
An equine sanctuary has thanked the public for donations it has received, which have been used to pay off winter bills.
Carol Fielding, owner of Pablo's Sanctuary in Long Clawson, appeared on East Midlands Today as it was struggling to cope due to rising food costs and an increased intake, which now sees the centre care for more than 60 horses.
"People have come down to see the horses and on the way out they've given me nice envelopes with cheques in for £1,000. So thanks to all that we've managed to pay off all of last winter's bills which means we're going into this winter with a clean slate," she told the BBC.
However, Ms Fielding added that the sanctuary is still looking for extra funds, as it keeps seeing more animals coming through the door.
Earlier this week, a pony was taken out on the streets of Carlisle city centre to raise money for the Animals' Refuge at Wetheral.
