Horse masseur establishes practice in Berwick

Equine insurance policyholders in Berwick may be interested to hear that a horse masseur is now working in the area.

The Berwick Advertiser reported that equine massage is rapidly gaining interest among those caring for animals, as there are a range of benefits for the horse.

Niall Morrison is a member of the international Equine Body Workers Association and has moved his practice to the borders, making him the only person in the area qualified in the therapy.

"It's becoming more popular, but until a few years ago people looked at you sideways if you said you massaged horses," Mr Morrison explained.

He added that while the animals themselves cannot provide feedback on the treatments, owners are able to notice the difference and confirm that their horses' conditions have improved.

Last month, the Teesdale Mercury reported that Marwood Equestrian centre in the town is offering a new horse therapy to help children with autism.
