Horse ploughs headlong into windscreen
After suffering a horrific accident, Catherine Lawrence in Nelson, New Zealand has been left nursing a badly bruised face and suffering the complete destruction of her Nissan. On the other hand the horse that catapulted through her car died instantly.
Four spooked horses had managed to escape from a nearby field and had been sprinting along the road when Lawrence narrowly avoided two horses, the third however was not so lucky and ploughed headlong into her windscreen.
The horse fell through the car hitting Lawrence's eye and face with his hooves eventually collapsing across the passenger seat. Lawrence in the split second of the collision thought she had impacted the air bag later to discover it was the horse.
The emergency services arrived to treat the injured party who was able to remove herself from the car. Doctors told Lawrence that she was incredibly lucky to be alive and she should go out and buy a lotto ticket, had anyone been in the passenger seat they would have died on impact.
The other horses were rounded up safely and the horse owner is said to be shocked and distressed by the accident.
