Horse rustling affects Olympic hopeful.

A recent horse rustling scam has even infiltrated the ranks of Olympic show-jumping hopefuls; Laura Newman has been implicated in the Belgium scandal.

Her mother Priscilla Newman a retired headmistress adamantly denies any involvement in the horse rustling business and persistently adds that her daughter has always had a 'perfect' record never being in trouble and would certainly not 'stoop to such business as this.'

Laura Newman has been remanded in custody due to her speculated involvement in the kidnapping of 4 horses from the stables of Madame Joelle Triplot-Leonard near Liege in Belgium. The Belgium Police suspect that the four horses in question are the same four horses recently obtained by Newman at her home in Breastin, Derby.

The geldings, Mouche, Polo, Atleht and Liago all went missing from the stable just after Christmas, December 27 2008, last year and were smuggled through Europe to England. The four geldings amounted in value to more than £150, 000 and Madame Joelle posted missing reports of the four animals on websites in several languages, offering a reward for their return. Her own horse insurance would have taken a beating for the claims proceeding the disappearance of the four geldings.

Newman's lawyer announced the family would be fighting the allegations all the way to the top and fervently insist that the horse now under a retention order in possession of the Newman's was bought from a Belgium horse seller, who has unfortunately now disappeared.

Insure My Horse provides equine insurance for horse enthusiasts across the country and can organise horse box insurance cover to cater for all the needs of horse owners.
