Injured jockey 'out of coma' following Aintree fall

Horse insurance policyholders have been told that injured jockey Peter Toole has been brought out of a coma, following a fall at Aintree last weekend (Saturday April 9th).

Earlier this week, it was reported that Toole had been placed in a medically-induced coma after sustaining a head injury as he rode in the John Smith's Maghull Novices' Chase.

After coming off his mount Classic Fly, which had been rated at 100-1 for the race, Mr Toole fell unconscious and was diagnosed as having bleeding on the right side of his brain.

On Tuesday (April 12th), trainer Charlie Mann, for whom the 22-year-old jockey rides, confirmed that doctors had brought him out of sedation following a CT scan.

Mr Mann explained: "He came out of it and moved his legs which was good ... Things are better and although Peter has still got a long way to go - he's not out of the woods yet - the news is as good as can be expected at this present time."
