Largest UK police horse to get 6-month rest
A police horse known as the biggest in the UK and weighing one tonne is getting a well-earned rest from being at the front line of crowd control.
Horse insurance policyholders were told that Titan, which played a role at the 2004 FA Cup final in Cardiff, will spend some time at The Horse Trust in Buckinghamshire after being granted the break by Thames Valley Police.
"Titan is one of our top horses. He is very loyal and brave in all situations. People are always astounded by his size and often come up to say hello. Despite his large size, he is remarkably agile and incredibly sure-footed – it was like he was made to be a police horse," said PC Tim Pollock.
Last month, The Horse Trust bid an emotional farewell to Sherwin, which had been at the institution for three years after working with the Mounted Section of the Merseyside Police for 12 years.
