Monty supports Ride For Five Charity Dinner
Horse lovers had the chance to meet a living legend at a Charity Dinner in North Wales on February 7th organised to raise money for the children’s charity Ride For Five. Monty Roberts, the 73-year-old American “horse whisperer”, was the guest speaker.
Ride for Five was started 18 months ago with the backing of a £5,000 Communities First grant to enable children in danger of social exclusion, underprivileged and with learning difficulties to handle and ride horses for two hours a week for a 'fiver'. Courses last between five and 15 weeks and already over 40 children have been through the scheme.
The charity’s fundraising dinner will enable the scheme to extend within North East Wales during 2008. The evening raised over £2000. Monty Roberts then went to meet the charity’s youngsters at Bridlewood Riding Centre, Prestatyn the next day.
