Horse health

Horse health covers a wide spectrum but is generally concerned with the physical well being of your horse from vaccinations to vet check ups. Horses need worming all year round with a structured programme to ensure that the correct wormer is being used at the right time. By regularly worming you should be able to keep your horse parasite and disease free and reduce the risk of colic, diarrhoea and death.

Another important routine is to get your horse vaccinated with the most important being Tetanus which can be fatal, Equine influenza, that is a respiratory disease which can lead to secondary infections, and Equine herpes virus that can lead to loss of form and in severe cases abortion in pregnant mares.

To maintain a healthy horse while it is out in pasture the land will need to be checked in accordance with the Ragwort injurious weeds and the weeds act 1959 and the Ragwort control Act 2003. This is due to the fact that ragwort is highly poisonous to horses. (Vet check ups).
