Horse hoof care
Horse Hoof care is a very important part of a horse’s health. Hooves need to be cleaned using a ‘hoof pick’ from heel towards toe. Care needs to be taken to ensure that the cleft of the frog is cleaned and checked for thrush.
Getting a qualified and respected farrier in to deal with the care of a horses hoof is a must as amateur shoeing can lead to many problems for the horse, such as lameness and distress for the horse. As the hoof continues to grow like a nail, about 1cm a month, it will need attention every 4 – 6 weeks for trimming and scraping off the dead sole.
